The One Lift That Trains Almost Everything

It’s 2026 and people are still trying to dodge deadlifts.
I've heard a lot of excuses: "It's too risky," or "I'm not trying to get too big," they say. Meanwhile, I'm about to bonk someone over the head like Bam-Bam.
Deadlifts work well for my caveman brain: Me lift heavy. Me drop heavy.
But don’t let this simple exercise deceive you. Deadlifts are a powerhouse movement chock-full of real world benefits, and you’re leaving strength on the table when you leave deadlifts out of your programming.
You’re training your entire body in one movement. Glutes and hamstrings drive the lift. Your back and lats lock everything in place. Your core braces to keep you stable. Your grip holds it all together. They get you hyper-focused on form, dialing you into how your body creates tension to lock in the weight and move it properly. And of course, it’s gonna build some serious power and muscle that will improve your physical performance across the board. That’s a lotta good for one lift.
But deadlifts aren’t just going to get you far in the gym: they provide amazing real-world benefits too. Better posture. Increased stability and balance. Lowered risk of injury. Mental and physical resilience.
Even a guy with a caveman brain like me can see how with proper form, deadlifts are an amazing exercise that you shouldn’t go without.
